Legal Aid

Legal Aid is available to cover the costs of providing advice and representation in respect of advising at a Police Station.

If you have to go to Court then you may well be eligible for Legal Aid.  Legal Aid is both merits and means tested, which in real trems means that if your income is too great then you may not qualify for legal aid.   Most people who are in receipt of benefits will automatically qualify and we will only require a national insurance number.  If you are working or self employed then you will have to produce proof of your income.  The means test takes into account your disposable income.

The Court or the Legal Services Commission decides whether you qualify for legal aid but because of our experience we will usually able to tell you over the telephone whether you will qualify.

Even if you do not qualify for legal aid we will probably still be able to help.  Contact us to discuss your circumstances.

We remain committed to providing public funded defence work in police stations and courts.
